The mightiest tree
stands only because of its roots. Satan sprang forth from the roots of
self-exaltation. Christ is the entirety of God, clothed in the humility of
humanity. Jesus willingly embraced the humiliation of being born impoverished
in a manger stall and dying naked on a cursed tree.
Jesus did not
suffer from a low self-esteem image. He willingly suffered in no self-supreme
image. He willingly chose to lower Himself from His exalted essence. Satan sought to ascend, unaware of who he was.
Jesus chose to descend, fully knowing who He was.
The Christian tree
is firmly embedded in the humblest nature. When we wander from the roots of
Christ’s humility, we will waver like a tree severed from its roots. We may
seem to tower but soon the winds of the world will blow and we shall surely
come crashing down.
