Some random thoughts about "Temptation from Satan, Trials from the world, Testings
from God." Text: James 1:2-4, 12-15
Sometimes we think the disease is sorrow and the cure
is happiness.
That's like the sun shining this summer in Texas without the
rain.
God answers our prayers, not by removing the sorrow, but by renewing
the soul.
"In the day when I cried out, You answered me and made
me bold with strength in my soul." Psalm 138:3.
The soul strengthened through sorrow is bolder for the
Master than one never tested by grief.
The tree dug in, facing fiercest wind, will stand well
past tomorrow;
It's the deepest roots which yield sweetest fruits,
though grown by greatest sorrow.
Fear of anything but God is idolatry, worshipping
circumstances, self or the schemes of others.
The unholy trinity of fear, worry and dread is a faith that
anything but God is in control. That’s why fear of the Lord is the beginning of
wisdom. Forming a firm reliance on God causes fear to flee, worry to wither and
dread to die. Tremble only at the Lord and the seemingly turbulent world will
suddenly steady.
